It begins with slick images of a drag race in an underground parking lot that turns out to be fiction and ends with a real-life ride that ends in tragedy.
The spot 鈥2 Fast 2 Fatal鈥 cost 22-year-old 91原创 resident and SFU film student Nelson Talbot $200 to make, 鈥渕ost of it for food.鈥
Everything else, the actors, cars, shooting gear and five days of special effects work was donated.
Talbot won the speeding category in an ICBC-supported contest to create driving safety commercials.
His prize was $7,800 worth of film equipment.
Talbot is in his final semester of film school and hopes to become a professional cinematographer.
The spot will go on his 鈥渞eel鈥 of sample footage he will send to possible employers.
