A look at the winners of the 2011 Speech Festival for Grades 2 to 7 turned into an evening of youthful standup comedy at the 91原创 School Board on April 26.

All three got laughs from trustees and the audience when they delivered their winning speeches.

Colby Ring, winner of the Grade 4/5 category, delivered a comical rant about the attention his little brother gets, wrapping up by saying 鈥渢hing could be worse, I could have a little sister.鈥

Brothers Joshua and John Doknjas shared honours in different age groups.

Joshua, winner in the Grade 2/3 category, was only slightly taller than the podium he stood behind to deliver a chuckle-inducing riff about how he is often late and it鈥檚 a mystery why.

Older brother John, who took first in the Grade 6/7 category, talked about preparing for tests by, you know, actually studying.

But not before exhausting humourous alternatives that involves creative ways of wasting time and consuming sodas.

The speechmaking event, held earlier in the month at Peterson Road Elementary School, saw 47 Grades 2 to 7 students from 11  schools compete.
