Rollover crash snarls traffic on Port Mann Bridge in Surrey

One person was transported to the hospital in stable condition

A rollover crash on the Port Mann Bridge in Surrey brought traffic to a standstill Thursday (Jan. 23) morning.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), BC Highway Patrol and Surrey Fire responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision on the east end of the Port Mann Bridge in the westbound lanes at 7:20 a.m.

A Honda Civic travelling westbound in the HOV lane collided with a Chevrolet Trax SUV, which caused the SUV to flip onto its side, BC Highway Patrol media relations officer Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said.

A 24-year-old 91原创 man was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with driving without consideration, driving in the HOV lane with only the driver in the car and driving with tinted windows. These charges come with over $400 in fines.

One person was transported to hospital in stable condition, BCEHS public information officer Rachelle Bown said.

The HOV and left westbound lanes were closed for about an hour after the crash, which caused traffic to build up past 176 Street, according to a Black Press freelancer at the scene. DriveBC noted that the lanes were reopened around 9:30 a.m.
