Township Coun. Kim Richter wants to create a new policy to prohibit elected officials from using 鈥淭ownship resources to benefit their businesses.鈥
In an Oct. 23 notice of motion, she proposed that council pass formal legislation to disallow sitting members of council to bid on Township work or to use their businesses to bid on Township work for the duration of their tenure on council.
Her notice of motion comes after another council member鈥檚 business was hired to cater a Township event in September. Although the Township鈥檚 legal team found no fault with the matter, Richter believes it is a conflict of interest.

This request replaced a different notice of motion from Richter that asked for specific clarification regarding the September catering event. This included getting a second legal opinion and revising information that was sent out to council in a memorandum.
Richter鈥檚 motion is expected to come up for discussion at council鈥檚 Nov. 6 meeting.
