Rally in the Chilliwack River Valley to help stymied land owners

Owners awaiting positive news from province after re-applying for disaster funding last summer given final 'no' in fall 2024

Rally in the Chilliwack River Valley is a fundraiser slated for Nov. 23 to help Chilliwack River Valley families left in financial ruin by the 2021 floods and slides.

Performers Jeff Bonner of Tractorgrease, CR Avery, and Headlong Hearts will provide the musical entertainment for the night.

There are plans to offer guests a wine wall, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw, with all donated proceeds going to the CRV residents.

After suffering crippling losses related to the weather disaster, the property owners had been pinning their hopes on getting positive news from provincial officials after re-applying for provincial funding last summer. The official 'no' response in late 2024 came almost three agonizing years after the weather disaster struck the region destroying their properties, or rendering them uninhabitable.

The Rally in the Chilliwack River Valley event is a way for neighbours and friends to support the six owners, on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club (48685 Chilliwack Lake Rd.).

Tickets are $15 and available on eventbrite, by emailing chilliwackvalleyneighbours@gmail.com, or by calling 604-798-1934.

An is also rallying around the residents with more than $2,000 of the $50,000 goal raised to hire legal counsel.
