78-year-old Mission woman dies in head-on collision

RCMP say driver crossed centre line on Wilson Street Tuesday evening

A 78-year-old woman died after a head-on collision in Mission on Tuesday night (Dec. 3). 

According to a Mission RCMP news release,  initial evidence suggests a grey Pontiac Wave crossed the centre line on Wilson Street and collided head-on with a grey Ford Escape. 

First responders attended the scene at approximately 5 p.m. but the 78-year-old Pontiac driver from Mission died on the scene as a result of her injuries. The 76-year-old woman driving the Ford suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

"It has not been determined why the driver of the Pontiac crossed the centre line," Mission RCMP said. 

Wilson Street was closed on Tuesday night as a result of the crash but it has since reopened,. 

Mission RCMP's traffic services unit and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating the crash.
