Both eastbound lanes of Highway 17 were closed Monday afternoon (April 14) after a crash involving trucks on the busy route, near the Surrey/Delta border.
Commercial vehicles collided, just after noon Monday, eastbound on the highway before Tannery Road, causing traffic to be diverted onto the Highway 91 connector while police investigated and the mess was cleaned up.
Witnesses report that a truck-trailer unit sideswiped a cargo truck that was parked on the shoulder, apparently broken down.
No injuries were reported but eastbound traffic was blocked for close to three hours, according to a freelance photographer on the scene.
By around 3:30 p.m., traffic was flowing again.
