UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in Abbotsford

Vehicle strikes pedestrian on George Ferguson Way on Tuesday evening

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Abbotsford on Tuesday (Nov. 19). 

According to an Abbotsford Police Department (APD) news release, the collision was reported at roughly 6:45 p.m. in the 32900 block of George Ferguson Way.

First responders who arrived on scene found a single vehicle that struck a pedestrian. The 69-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries, but he later died.

Police say the driver remained on scene to cooperate and was uninjured in the crash. 

Per the release, the investigation from APD and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is in its early stages.

As of 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, George Ferguson Way was closed in both directions between Ware and Trafalgar streets.
