Pedestrian dies after being hit by pickup truck in Abbotsford

Collision occurred early Tuesday morning on Gladys Avenue
A 60-year-old female pedestrian was killed early Tuesday morning (Oct. 8) in Abbotsford after being hit by a pickup truck.

The collision took place at around 6 a.m. in the 34000 block of Gladys Avenue in east Abbotsford, near the Salvation Army's Centre of Hope.

Const. Art Stele, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said the woman died at the scene.

He said the driver of the pickup remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

"Initial indicators do not suggest impairment as a factor in the crash," Stele said.

Gladys Avenue is expected to be closed for several hours as investigators – including with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service – remain on scene.
