There will be new views for walkers and runners in this year鈥檚 Terry Fox Run in 91原创 City.

The committee for the 91原创 City Terry Fox Run has unveiled a new route for the run, which will be on Sunday, Sept. 18.

New developments in the City necessitated the change, said spokesman Lilianne Fuller. Part of the route will be along the Nicomekl flood plain.

鈥淓arlier this summer it became apparent to committee members that the route used for past years needed to be revamped,鈥 she said, adding that with the help of City Hall staff, a new route was designed and will be sustainable for years to come.

The new Serenade condominium development on Park Avenue and the new cenotaph proposed for Douglas Park both had an impact on the planning, and run organizers agreed that this created an opportunity to change things.

鈥淟ast year we duplicated what had been done before and that was fine but this year it鈥檚 nice do something a little different,鈥 Fuller said, adding that as in past years the new route will have a one, five and 10 k course.

鈥淭here will be something for everyone because we want to make sure that anyone who wants to participate, can,鈥 said Fuller, who co-chairs the event.

Registration for this year鈥檚 run begins at 9 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m. in Douglas Park.

There will be fun and family friendly entertainment on site complete with face painting, free draws and a concession stand being manned by City Firefighters.

91原创鈥檚 Lounge Brothers will be performing and Bob Saye of JR FM will be back again as the event鈥檚 celebrity announcer.
