Architectural drawings show the extent of the changes made to a heritage-style building project proposed for Fort 91原创. Township council, which rejected the initial design, approved the revisions on March 4.

An overhauled design for a new two-storey, heritage-style office complex for the western entrance to Fort 91原创 has won acceptance by 91原创 Township councillors.

In January, a majority of Township councillors complained the exterior of the building plans for the 23100 block of 96 Avenue didn鈥檛 look old enough.

On Monday, March 4, architect Gordon Klassen returned to council with a new old-style look that he said would be a better fit with Fort 91原创.

Among the changes, Klassen switched to 鈥渉eritage industrial-type glazing鈥 to make the windows look older, added windows to the bottom floor and reduced the number of pillars, something a critical councillor Charlie Fox had complained were not appropriate for the era the building was supposed to be imitating.

鈥淲e feel that we鈥檝e addressed these issues,鈥 Klassen said.

The revised plans won an unanimous vote of support from council.

鈥淵ou鈥檝e done an amazing job,鈥 Fox said. 鈥淚n a way, I鈥檓 glad I challenged you.鈥

Councillor Michelle Sparrow called the project 鈥渂eautiful.鈥

Note: an earlier version of this story incorrectly identified an image of the original, rejected design as the revised version.
