Recently re-elected 91原创 Conservative MP Mark Warawa is adding his concerns about high gas prices to those raised by Industry Minister Tony Clement on Thursday.
鈥淚n our constituency office and around 91原创, I am hearing the questions and concerns residents have about fluctuating fuel prices,鈥 said Warawa. 鈥淲e know that the high cost of gas can be a burden for Canadian families. Everyone is feeling the pinch at the pumps. Especially at a time when household budgets are already tight, Canadians want and deserve answers.鈥
Gas prices in 91原创 jumped to $1.44 a litre on Wednesday, even though crude oil prices took a sharp drop last week and remain under $100 (U.S.) a barrel.
Clement said he will ask refiners, distributors and retailers to come to Ottawa to appear before a parliamentary committee, and explain their pricing methods to Canadians.
鈥淢embers of Parliament will get the chance to ask them the common-sense questions we鈥檝e been hearing from Canadians,鈥 said Warawa. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to hearing what they have to say.鈥
