A group of friends in Mission feared for their safety last Thursday (May 23) after spotting what they thought was an unmoving woman in the trunk of a car.

The witnesses called Mission RCMP at approximately 10:30 p.m. to report the alleged body and a man standing near the parked car at a fast food restaurant.

鈥淭he friends feared for their safety and quickly drove out of the lot before calling police,鈥 Mission RCMP said in its weekly 鈥淐ommunity Connection鈥 crime recap.

The call drew a large police presence but the vehicle left before officers arrived.

However, Mission RCMP discovered a group of young men too large for one car persisted and found a way to pile in the vehicle.

Police say the group was planning to drive a short distance from the fast food restaurant and one man decided to hop in the trunk since it was a quick trip.

鈥淔ortunately, no one was hurt, and the person who had been in the trunk quickly admitted to it, which saved further police resources from further investigating the suspicious call,鈥 Mission RCMP said.

Police advised the passenger to use only seats with seatbelts in the future.
