A Maple Ridge man is facing charges for a series of sexual assaults that happened in Coquitlam.
The Coquitlam RCMP is announcing the recent charge approval related to touching incidents that occurred in that city during December of 2024. The BC Prosecution Service is proceeding with nine counts of sexual assault against 25-year-old Daniel Landy of Maple Ridge. Landy is accused of having committed sexual assaults against nine separate individuals, between the period of Dec. 4 and Dec. 7.
Police allegedly identified then arrested Landy on Dec. 8. His sexual assault allegations relate to inappropriate touching of persons as they walked in public areas of Coquitlam.
"The Coquitlam RCMP thank the numerous complainants for coming forward which helped investigators to expediently identify and arrest a suspect," said Const John Graham. "Our top priority is public safety. We continue to ask anyone further who may have witnessed these incidents or may have experienced a similar incident to contact our investigators."
None of the allegations against Landy have been proven in court. He has been released from custody on strict conditions, including a daily curfew and a no-go to Glen Park or any other parks.
Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services is engaged. The police are asking any further victims or witnesses to contact the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency line at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2024-32060.
