UPDATE: Uber joins Lyft in expanding ride-hailing services to 91原创

Both companies began operating in the Lower Mainland on Jan. 24

Residents of the Tri-Cities and multiple South of the Fraser communities will now have access to ride-hailing as Lyft and Uber expanded their service areas Monday.

According to Lyft, who made the announcement on Monday morning, they will now cover White Rock, South Surrey, 91原创, the Tri-Cities and both the Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay ferry terminals.

In 91原创, Lyft will serve up until 40 Avenue and 232 Street.

Uber expanded its service area on Monday afternoon to include the same areas, although it had covered the Tri-Cities prior to Lyft鈥檚 expansion there.

Both companies began operating in the Lower Mainland on Jan. 24, one day after the Passenger Transportation Board approved licences.

In a statement, Lyft鈥檚 general manager for B.C. Peter Lukomskyj said they had heard the demand for ride-hailing from more far-flung communities.

鈥淲e will continue working hard to grow our driver community and serve the full region as soon as possible,鈥 he said.
