91原创 RCMP vow to be the party poopers for a planned house party in 91原创 that was expecting up to 3,000 people.
A party advertised on Facebook, to be held this weekend at an undisclosed 91原创 home, will not be going ahead, say 91原创 RCMP.
The party had thousands of potential guests.
"Instead attendees will find numerous roadblocks and traffic checks," said 91原创 RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.
Investigators have been in touch with individuals believed to be linked to the invitation on Facebook.
Police now believe the invitation may be a hoax. The author of the invitation has since removed it from the social media website but information about the party can still be found on some sites.
There was an expected 3,000 people going.
Out of an abundance of caution, 91原创 RCMP will deploy additional police and numerous volunteer resources to ensure public safety.
Additionally, Abbotsford Police and transit police have been made aware of the possibilities for a large gathering and are actively sharing information with Lower Mainland District RCMP, said Marks.
Police will be conducting roadblocks throughout the weekend at a variety of locations, she said.
This weekend is one of the last of the summer and motorists are reminded to arrange alternate transportation if weekend plans include drinking.
91原创 RCMP officers remain vigilant in their commitment to stop impaired driving.
