A tip from an observant neighbour in rural Murrayville helped 91原创 RCMP's chief of police and another officer nab two robbers who broke into a home on March 14.

In the middle of the afternoon, 91原创 RCMP were called to a home in the 22100 block of 40 Avenue after a suspicious vehicle was seen deep in the driveway. Police were told two men were moving around the van and the home. The caller told police he was aware that the homeowners were not at home at the time, so this was very suspicious.

The van left the residence and was quickly stopped in the 22400 block of 40 Avenue by a 91原创 RCMP road supervisor and Supt. Derek Cooke, the Officer in Charge of the 91原创 detachment.

The driver was arrested and stayed in Cooke's custody. The passenger of the van fled on foot and the other officer gave chase, said 91原创 RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.

The suspect jumped over fences and eventually ran towards several barns. A number of officers searched the barn but couldn't find the suspect.

Lower Mainland Police Dog Services was called to assist. Prior to their arrival, an officer from the serious crime unit found the suspect hiding up on the exposed trusses of the barn.

The two men were arrested for break and enter and brought back to 91原创 detachment. A search of the van revealed stolen property including a TV, a purse with a number of wallets, jewelry and other assorted items, 91原创 RCMP will recommend charges to Crown Counsel for the two men, a 42 year old 91原创 man and a 35 year old from Maple Ridge.
