A search for a driver who fled from police Tuesday night (July 11) resulted in temporary lane closures on Highway 99 in South Surrey.
At 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Mercedes CLS550 at King George Boulevard and Highway 10.
The vehicle fled from police, but was later located on Highway 99, south of the Serpentine River overpass, noted an RCMP release.
鈥淭he driver abandoned the vehicle and ran from police into the nearby wooded area,鈥 it said.

Although SGET, with assistance from frontline officers as well as Integrated Police Dog Services (PDS), Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMDERT) and Delta Police Department (DPD), conducted an extensive search for the driver, he was not located.
RCMP said the driver has been identified as a 44-year-old man from 91原创.
Because there was evidence of drug trafficking located, a warrant is being sought for the his arrest.
The incident was isolated and there is no risk to public safety, RCMP said.
