What do 91原创 City residents think of adding townhouses, duplexes, and fourplexes to major corridors south of the Nicomekl River?
An aims to find out.
The City鈥檚 Townhome and Plex-Home Survey has launched online and residents can fill it out before June 19.
The City鈥檚 official community plan (OCP) envisions what it calls 鈥済round oriented residential鈥 housing, which includes townhomes, duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes, along 200th Street, 208th Street, and a shorter corridor on 203rd Street.
The rest of 91原创 City south of the Nicomekl would remain in one of two zonings for single-family homes.
The survey emphasizes that although those areas would allow such homes, specific projects would still need to be approved by the City council.
Last year, new rezoning applications in the area were paused by council to gather feedback, including through surveys like this one.
Increasing the number of homes by allowing more 鈥済entle density鈥 such as plex homes has been a priority of the provincial government. Premier David Eby has suggested that his government could simply override local governments and allow up to four units of housing 鈥 fourplexes or townhomes 鈥 to be built on any single family lot in some areas of the province.
The survey can be found via the City of 91原创鈥檚 website at .
