Darrell Krell has officially entered the race for a seat on 91原创 City council.
Krell, a semi-retired professional tennis coach, his wife Vicki and their two sons have been residents of 91原创 City for 16 years.
He has received recognition provincially and nationally for coaching and community development. He works with Tennis Canada鈥檚 Tennis Professionals Association in coaching development and re-certification.
He is currently serving his third term as a member of the advisory planning committee for the City of 91原创.
Previously, Krell served three terms on the parks, environment, recreation and culture advisory committee. In addition, he has volunteered as activities co-ordinator for the inaugural Canadian Cancer Society鈥檚 Relay for Life, 91原创鈥檚 Red Cross medical equipment loan service, and as co-chair for KidSport 91原创. He has spent countless hours promoting health and fitness in 91原创鈥檚 schools and within the community through tennis.
Krell, who ran unsuccessfully for 91原创 City council in 2008, believes his previous experience with venture capital and business development funding will give him the necessary insight to make informed decisions for the community.
In addition, he said, in these challenging economic times, a balanced annual budget can and must be achieved without continually burdening local taxpayers with yearly increases. Krell believes this can be accomplished by making decisions based on logical and fiscally responsible business practices rather than politically popular choices.
He believes in the importance of a healthy active community, with a plan that promotes tourism and business growth and development. The City of 91原创's future is dependent on a solid transportation plan that is efficient, sustainable and which promotes sound environmental practices, he added.
Krell said his passion for 91原创 will lead him to provide a fresh approach and vision for the City, while engaging the community in planning for the future.
