Jaws of Life needed to help truck driver after being pinned by shifted load

The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement is investigating

A semi-truck driver needed to be rescued with the help of the Jaws of Life after a load shifted, pinning the driver.

Just before 11 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 23), a semi-truck driver was reportedly seriously injured when the driver had to stop suddenly at the light at Stewardson Way and 12th Street, according to a Black Press Media freelancer on scene. In the flatbed was a load of steel beams that shifted forward and pushed through the cab, pinning the driver between the seat and the steering wheel.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue the driver.

New Westminster police and Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement are on scene investigating.
