91原创 Township is updating its survey of what residents want to see in the public areas of the Fort 91原创 waterfront.

The Township owns the shoreline properties east from the Jacob Haldi Bridge through to where the forested Crown lands begin. Right now, there are parking lots and wooden walkways along the shoreline, an old boat launch, and the Haldi House, also known as the Bedford House, a former restaurant near Glover Road.

The survey asks questions about priorities such as public access to the river, bicycle and pedestrian access, public and performance spaces, parking, and even trees for shade.

Anyone can fill out the survey, which asks whether the person answering is a local Fort resident, visitor, waterfront users, or lives in another part of the Township or outside of 91原创 altogether.

This is not the first time the Township has surveyed public attitudes about the waterfront, and the current survey is meant as an update.

The most recent round of public feedback, in 2022, centred around a development proposal that would have included moving Haldi House and putting up a mixed-use building, parking, and a waterfront park.

Surveys based on that proposal suggested that people supported public gathering spaces, bike links and foot paths, access to the river, and more parking. Some people were opposed to moving the Haldi House.
