The wildfire at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler has shrunk to 0.35 hectares, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
UPDATE 10:54 a.m. July 3:
The fire that broke out near the base of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler is still not contained. According to Coastal Fire Centre information officer Marg Drysdale, the fire is being held.
鈥淭hey have a containment around it but they鈥檙e continuing to solifidy [that],鈥 she said. One unit fire crew with one officer continue to fight the one hectare blaze.
SUNDAY July 2:
Firefighters are on scene of a wildfire near the base of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler.
The fire broke out at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
A ground fire was ignited approximately 5:30 p.m. July 2 above Painted Cliff drive in Blackcomb Benchlands Whistler....

Nineteen firefighters, two officers and two helicopters have been deployed to the scene, said Marg Drysdale, B.C. Wildfire Service information officer.
Doherty said the fire is suspected to be human-caused, as there were no reports of lightning in the area.
