91原创 City鈥檚 candidates didn鈥檛 spend a great deal to get , with the exception of Mayor Peter Fassbender.

He spent $30,167 on his successful campaign for mayor. Fassbender was elected for his third term as mayor on Nov. 19, 2011.

His opponent, Ron Abgrall, spent nothing on his campaign.

Fassbender鈥檚 major contributors were Super Save Group and Redekop Kroeker of Richmond. Both donated $5,000 to his campaign.

Open Road Auto Group, which is building a large auto dealership complex in the City, donated $2,000.

So did Anthem Properties. Bayfield Mortgages of 91原创 donated $1,500.

Starline Windows, Marcon Development and Britco, 91原创-based companies, donated $1,000.  First Capital of Richmond, Brook Pooni of Vancouver and Tejpar Group of Surrey each donated $1,000.

Individuals David Ash, Peter Ash, Glenn Bell and George Vallance each donated $1,000 as well.

Total contributions to Fassbender鈥檚 campaign were $28,300.

Almost all of his expenses were for advertising, brochures, signs and postage.

Fassbender received 2,455 votes to Abgrall鈥檚 983.

Of the 12 council candidates, incumbent Dave Hall was the biggest spender, spending $8,582. He provided all the money for his campaign, listing no contributions from others on his campaign disclosure forms.

Other incumbent councillors spent the following: Teri James, $4,752; Jack Arnold, $2,703; Gayle Martin $748 and Rosemary Wallace, $290. All spent their own money on their campaigns, with no outside contributors.

Ted Schaffer, who returned to council after a three-year absence, spent $3,252. He and his wife Jean supplied all but $500, with that amount coming from Wolfgang Degemann.

Rudy Storteboom, who lost his seat on council by 36 votes, spent $3,997 on his campaign. He received $1,200 in contributions, with $500 coming from Dougal Shewan.

Randy Caine, who has challenged the City over a medicinal marijuana dispensary he was operating, came last in the election, with 814 votes. He spent $3,431 on his campaign, with $500 coming from marijuana activist Dana Larsen, another $500 from Vancouver Dispensary Society and $150 from Jody Emery, wife of 鈥淧rince of Pot鈥� Marc Emery, who is now in a U.S. jail.

Paul Albrecht, who finished eighth with 1,209 votes, spent $5,921 on his campaign, with $5,600 coming from a host of labour organizations.

A total of $3,100 came from various Canadian Union of Public Employees union locals, with $500 coming from local 403, the 91原创 Township local of which Albrecht is president. Another $1,500 came from CUPE鈥檚 provincial arm. Another $1,000 came from two Fraser Valley labour organizations.

Spending by other unsuccessful candidates was as follows: Catfish Potesta, $4,593; Darrell Krell, $539 and Dave Humphries, $510.

All spent their own funds on their campaigns.
