Birthdays are supposed to be a day full of celebration, and for Tori Dunn, they were often spent in a place she loved鈥攖he outdoors.
Monday (Dec. 30) would have been Tori's 31st birthday. Instead of celebrations, it was a day full of tears and reminiscing about her life, Tori's father, Aron Dunn said.
Tori's life was cut short when she was killed in June 2024. She was found with life-threatening injuries in her home in Port Kells on June 16. She later died in hospital.
Adam Mann, 41, was charged with second-degree murder on June 28 in connection to Dunn's death. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 16 in New Westminister Supreme Court.
"I am just heartbroken," Aron said. "I can't believe it's been six months already; it feels like it happened yesterday. I just relive it and relive it."
Aron bought a birthday cake, flowers and a card to remember the day. Family, friends and Tori's partner, Trafford Wace, gathered on Zoom to share stories about Tori.
"I just want her to know how much she's missed," Aron said. "I would have been calling her today, and I wish I could. I'd give everything just to hug her for an hour."
Aron said Tori would have likely spent the day outdoors with her rescue dog, Cedar.
"She was a big outdoor enthusiast and loved her dog like crazy," Aron said.
Tori often felt cheated out on her birthday when she had been given gifts to cover Christmas and her birthday, Aron said. "She was kind of pissed off about her birthday being so close to Christmas," Aron said. "I know that if there is a place and she's watching, she'd really get a kick out of today."
Dunn was the owner of a local landscaping business, Dunn Right Landscaping, whose family described her as a 鈥渨arm-hearted鈥 person who was loved by all. Dunn's family created a Facebook group, , where people can be updated and share their journey "in seeking justice for Tori," reads the group description.
"I just really don't want her to be forgotten," Aron said.
