A large quantity of weapons, explosives and drugs were seized by Surrey RCMP in executing two search warrants at a property on Industrial Road.

A large quantity of firearms, drugs and explosives were seized in Surrey in what police described as a highly dangerous situation.

The Surrey RCMP's North Community Response Unit (NCRU) launched an investigation into a property in the 12200-block of Industrial Road in the spring of 2024.

After obtaining a search warrant, the NRCU, with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), searched the property on Aug. 22, 2024.

Twelve people were arrested, and the following items were seized: 500 g of suspected illicit drugs, $10,000 cash, four handguns, including a 3D printed gun, ammunition rounds, prohibited magazines, radio jammers, two stolen vehicles and several stolen licence plates, three duffel bags with 16 firearms and 30 pounds of explosives.

"Upon execution of the first search warrant, the sheer volume of drugs, firearms, and explosives located by police inside this fortified unit over a business visited by the unsuspecting public may be the most dangerous situation I have seen in my service in Surrey," Staff Sgt. Nigel Pronger, the commander of the North Community Response Unit, said.

"Unfortunately in this investigation, crime did not stop with this enforcement, necessitating a second search warrant execution at the same location. This wanton disregard for public safety is inexcusable."

The second warrant was executed on Sept. 10. Eight people were arrested, identified and released from the scene, police said.

Police seized: $3,160 in cash, 830 g of illicit drugs (suspected methamphetamine), 600 grams of cannabis, 32 vials of prescription opioids, 120 various pills, 117 rounds of ammunition, a silencer, three long guns, two crossbows and airsoft handguns.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working on a report to submit to Crown Counsel recommending charges.
