The new 10-lane Port Mann Bridge has the record for the world's widest bridge, at 65 metres.

Drivers are being urged to avoid Highway 1 near the Port Mann Bridge and find alternate routes this weekend and next weekend due to heavy construction delays around the Cape Horn interchange.

Major congestion is expected from Friday night to Sunday afternoon when Highway 1 westbound will be cut reduced to one lane at Cape Horn.

Access to Highway 1 eastbound from Lougheed Highway will also be closed – motorists headed that way are to use Brunette interchange instead.

The following weekend, from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, Highway 1 will be cut to one lane in each direction from Friday evening to Sunday morning.
