The driver of a semi-trailer towing a modular home has been charged after striking an overpass Friday (Oct. 11) on Highway 1 in Abbotsford.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. at No. 3 Road and caused a temporary shutdown of the freeway.
The commercial semi-trailer was travelling west in the left passing lane when the overpass was hit.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) said nobody was injured, and a charge was laid of driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.
鈥淲e understand how frustrating these incidents are for road users, and BCHP is going to help make sure drivers are held accountable for their decisions on the road,鈥 McLaughlin said.
The charge comes with a $368 fine and six points against the driver鈥檚 licence.
鈿狅笍 Both westbound lanes have reopened at No 3 Rd. Semi remains on the side causing a visual distraction.
