Vancouver police are investigating a shooting in the city鈥檚 downtown core that sent a 46-year-old man to hospital.

Officers were called to the area of Homer and West Pender streets on Wednesday (April 3) around 7:50 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found a person with serious injuries. Police say the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

鈥淭he investigation is still in its early stages, so what transpired between the suspect and the victim leading up to the shooting is still being confirmed,鈥 Const. Tania Visintin said. 鈥淭here is no reason to believe this incident is related to the BC Gang Conflict, nor is it connected to any other serious investigations going on in the city.鈥

No arrests have been made and the investigation in ongoing.

This shooting comes four days after a targeted shooting in the downtown core.

Shots were fired near Richards and Robson streets around 5:40 p.m. on March 30.

Police said the shooting appeared to be targeted, but there were no known injuries or arrests.
