Downtown 91原创 Business Association, in partnership with 91原创 City and BC Hydro, has wrapped seven BC Hydro utility boxes and five City traffic boxes throughout the downtown area, between 201A Street, 206 Street, Douglas Crescent and Fraser Highway.
鈥淭his three-way partnership was initiated by the DLBA and we want to thank the other two organizations for sharing this vision,鈥 said executive director Teri James. 鈥淏y working together, we as a community can get so much more accomplished, and this just proves it鈥.
James first approached BC Hydro with a request for financial support in November 2010. Hydro was very receptive to the idea and worked with James on the original proposal.
鈥淭hey were completely on board and for that we are truly appreciative. It was BC Hydro that originally gave us the green light to pursue this project鈥, explained James.
鈥淚t has been proven that the elimination of graffiti helps reduce public safety issues in public places; moreover, the wraps also enhance the visual esthetic throughout the downtown,鈥 said Mayor Peter Fassbender
The 12 boxes are all in very visible locations and the beautification and anti-graffiti aspects have made this undertaking a huge success.
鈥淲e hope this will set a bench mark and help encourage other projects throughout the City. This is an absolute win-win for everyone,鈥 said James.
