A construction crane arm buckled at a Whalley job site near 105 Avenue and King George Boulevard at about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
WorkSafeBC representative Ashley Gregerson said a stop use order has been issued on the crane as well as a stop work order in the area around it.
鈥淲orkSafeBC Officers along with our Investigations team and Engineering team are on site and no injuries have been reported,鈥 she said.
Elizabeth Model, of the Downtown Surrey BIA, could see if from her office window.
鈥淚 see it right now,鈥 she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking right dead-centre at the property. It鈥檚 almost like it鈥檚 split, from the top of the crane it looks like the crane that sticks out far.
鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 look like it鈥檚 on the road or anything.鈥
Dennis Brode, director of health and safety for Axiom Builders, reiterated there were no injuries.
鈥淲orkSafe is now on site with a team of inspectors to thoroughly investigate the cause of this incident, and our team will work with them to ensure a comprehensive assessment,鈥 Brode said. 鈥淭he safety of our workers and the surrounding community is our priority, and we are committed to providing updates as we gather more information.鈥
