Brookswood garage fire quickly doused

A 26-year-old man was taken into custody shortly after a garage caught fire in the Brookswood area Wednesday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., Township firefighters and 91原创 RCMP were called to a home in the area of 200 Street and 44 Avenue. Five fire trucks arrived with more than a dozen firefighters who quickly doused the flames.

91原创 RCMP confirm they took a man into custody at the scene. He is known to the home owner. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and held in a cell overnight at the 91原创 detachment. He was expected to appear in court on Thursday.

Police took several statements from witnesses and the investigation is ongoing, said Cpl. Holly Largy. Both fire and police confirm there was a house fire at this address last August.
