B.C. jobs minister comes to 91原创 to talk employment programs

B.C.鈥檚 jobs minister is coming to the Greater 91原创 Chamber of Commerce next week, to speak to members and guests at the monthly dinner meeting.

Brenda Bailey, the Minister of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation (JEDI) will be the speaker at the Tuesday, June 20 meeting, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Coast 91原创 City Hotel.

Bailey was appointed to the role last December, and she鈥檚 expected to talk about the provincial NDP government鈥檚 growth strategies, and specifically the Future Ready Plan, a $480 million training and workforce development program.

The plan has five pillars, including making post-secondary education more affordable, helping people reskill to find in-demand jobs, which tackles skills shortages, and addressing Indigenous Peoples鈥 workforce priorities.

The evening meeting begins with networking and dinner, and is then followed by Bailey鈥檚 speech.
