Murder investigators continue to probe the death of George Antone, a Kwantlen First Nation elder whose body was discovered on March 7 at the Kwantlen reserve in the 9400 block Glover Road in Fort 91原创.

Cpl. Dale Carr, who speaks for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said that police plan to return soon to Fort 91原创 to conduct another round of interviews.

News of Antone's murder rocked First Nations communities, and stunned the village where the murder took place. Carr said that people were still in the early grips of shock and grief when the first interviews took place.

"As time passes by, people may remember more," Carr said.

An autopsy determined that 71-year-old Antone died of gunshot wounds. Carr would not say how many times the elder had been shot.

Antone's body was discovered in his home by a family member.

"The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been investigating the incident since the initial call," Carr said, adding, that "the Kwantlen First Nation has been a great support to the investigation. The leadership of the Kwantlen First Nation has been a great help with facilitating interviews and assisting with contacting potential witnesses."

Chief Marilyn Gabriel said that the Antone's death in the Kwantlen community "has been shocking to us all.

"Our community and families are grieving and trying our best to sort through emotions during this very difficult time. As leader in my community, I support full co-operation of our community with the ongoing investigation to provide answers to this terrible tragedy."

Carr urged anyone with information to call the IHIT tip line, even if they feel their knowledge may not be helpful.

"We need people to call with information and allow the investigators to assess the value of that information," Carr said.
