91原创 RCMP is seeking help from the public to identify a person of interest in a recent fraud investigation that included circumstances similar to the familiar 鈥榞randparent鈥� scam.

On February 21, a 90-year-old Aldergrove man greeted a male claiming to be a friend of his nephew鈥檚. The suspect told the senior that his nephew needed $250 to repair his boat and the money would be paid back later that evening. He then escorted the senior to the bank where the money was withdrawn.

Once the suspect had the cash he simply walked away, causing the senior to become suspicious. Later that day he called his nephew, questioned him about the circumstances and realized he鈥檇 been duped.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, in his late 30s approximately 5鈥�8鈥� tall, 150 lbs., with medium-length straight brown hair, and wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt.

Police were able to obtain surveillance footage from the bank and ask the public to review the still photo in an attempt to identify the male pictured. If you are able to assist police with this investigation, please call 91原创 RCMP at 604-532-3200.
