The man charged with the second-degree murder of Surrey's Tori Dunn is facing new assault charges from an incident that occurred while he was in custody. 

Adam Mann, 40, was charged with two counts of assault on Nov. 20 stemming from a July 13, 2024, incident in Surrey when he was in custody, confirmed Ann Seymour, spokesperson for B.C. Prosecution Service. 

Seymour said they could not provide any more information about the alleged assault as it has not been brought before the court yet and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Mann is currently in custody in connection to the murder charge. 

Dunn, 30, was found with life-threatening injuries in her home in Port Kells on June 16. She later died in hospital. 

Mann was charged with second-degree murder on June 28 in connection to Dunn's death.

Mann is currently in court on three unrelated charges, not including the assault. None of these charges have been proven in court, and a publication ban currently covers the details of these charges. He is expected to appear in Surrey provincial court again Wednesday (Nov. 27).  

On Thursday (Nov. 21) at New Westminster Supreme Court, Madam Justice Duncan approved to have the murder trial heard in Supreme Court. The next court appearance will be on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. to fix a date. 

Dunn was the owner of a local landscaping business, Dunn Right Landscaping, whose family described her as a 鈥渨arm-hearted鈥� person who was loved by all. Dunn's family created a Facebook group, , where people can be updated and share their journey "in seeking justice for Tori," reads the group description.
