At approximately 5 p.m., Mission RCMP received multiple reports of gunshots on the 37000 block of Laminman Avenue and Cedar Street.

A victim was found with injuries and transported to hospital via helicopter at Albert McMahon Elementary on Cherry Avenue. Scanner reports indicate that crews were doing CPR on the victim at the scene.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 29), the man died from his injuries.

Police say the shooting appears to have been targeted. Mounties say the identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.

Shortly after the shooting, Mission RCMP received another report of a minivan fire several blocks away near Richards Avenue and Doyle Street.

Reports indicate the fire transferred to bushes nearby. Police say the scene was also secured and it is being investigated.

IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Mission RCMP, BC Coroners Service, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unity of BC (CFSEU-BC).

Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
