$1 million in meth seized in 91原创 drug bust

RCMP found the drugs, along with cash, in a Toyota Camry

A traffic stop led 91原创 RCMP officers to methamphetamines with an estimated street value of more than $1 million this week.

The seizure began when the detachment鈥檚 Special Response Team was conducting proactive patrols on Tuesday, July 4 in the area of 48th Avenue and 209th Street, a residential area of 91原创 City.

At 3:50 p.m., an officer pulled over a rented Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry got out and immediately charged on foot at the RCMP officer, who was still inside his cruiser.

That odd behaviour sparked a further investigation, which led to the drugs and bundled cash in the car, said Cpl. Craig Van Herk, spokesperson for the 91原创 RCMP.

In total, the car contained more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of crystal meth.

鈥淭o put it in perspective, that鈥檚 22,000 doses of crystal meth that would have been on the streets of 91原创,鈥 said Staff Sgt. Bal Sidhu, the 91原创 RCMP鈥檚 community policing commander.

The driver was arrested at the scene and has since been released, pending further investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
