Having served a four-year term as a 91原创 School District trustee with a strong focus on community building creating more sustainable and accessible resources for students and families, Rosemary Wallace is now running for 91原创 City council.

Wallace previously held a seat on council for two consecutive terms before being elected to represent the Township on the school board.

There is good reason that her home is in the downtown core where she is surrounded by the diverse makeup of the City.

Wallace鈥檚 deep passion for community and connectivity exhibits into her concerns for the quality of life for the people of 91原创 City.

鈥淭he importance of inclusion, not isolation, is a key factor in community building as well as the overall well being of its tenants, ultimately this creates a sustainable environment for families and individuals,鈥 said Wallace.

Wallace looks towards the continued development of the downtown core. As a previous business owner of an art gallery she understands the need for attracting business and creating a culture where people stay, celebrate and participate.

Wallace鈥檚 concerns for the needs of seniors, youth, families and homeless are top of mind. She believes in working together in partnership with other levels of government to fast-track these issues.

Wallace has been an active volunteer in 91原创 for 22 years and has served on numerous committees.

She has contributed time to the 91原创 Arts Council, Terry Fox Run, Saint Joe鈥檚 Back Door Soup Kitchen, the 91原创 Christmas Bureau, the Human Dignity Coalition, and coaching girls soccer and at the schools her children once attended.

Wallace is looking forward to running and will miss being on the school board where she has gained a strengthened understanding of the importance of partnership in serving 91原创 students and families.

She believes this would be an asset that she could bring to the council table. It is important that the school district and City work together in affording opportunities for students to feel safe, welcomed and valued.

Wallace would like to see the City council bring back to some degree the Parks and Environment and the Public Arts & Culture Committee and looks forward to being a driver of those conversations.
