Andrew Mercier, a lawyer and former B.C. NDP candidate, is running for 91原创 City Council.
In his written announcement released today, Mercier promised to fight a proposed mobility tax if elected.
鈥淭he average 91原创 family can鈥檛 afford to pay an extra $2,700 a year just to get to work and back,鈥� Mercier said.
鈥淔olks shouldn鈥檛 be punished for living in 91原创.鈥�
He also highlighted housing costs and homelessness in his statement, saying 鈥渉ousing costs are off the charts and rents are not far behind.鈥�
Mercier ran for the as the B.C. NDP candidate for 91原创 in 2013 and managed the federal NDP campaign in the 91原创 riding in 2011.
