This year's jury-selected artisan mix at the Circle Craft Holiday Market includes budding artists, new vendors, gourmet food and drink creators and members of the Circle Craft Co-op.

The Circle Craft Holiday Market celebrates 50 years this holiday season, welcoming more than 300 artisans to the Vancouver Convention Centre Nov. 6 to 10.

What began in 1974 as a church craft fair has flourished into Western Canada鈥檚 longest-standing and largest handmade marketplace 鈥 a five-day, ethical, local alternative to online shopping, throwaway fashions and copycat designs.

A unique opportunity to connect with skilled artisans from across Canada in the 138,000-square-foot Convention Centre space, you can also take in live demonstrations and enjoy festive food and drink, all while getting ahead of your holiday shopping.

This year's jury-selected artisan mix includes 26 鈥淏udding Artists,鈥 45 new vendors, 33 gourmet food and drink creators and 36 members of the Circle Craft Co-op, the artist-run endeavour with a year-round flagship store on Granville Island.

鈥淭he Market has grown from a bunch of hippies in the 1970s, to one of the biggest and best-attended shows in all of Canada,鈥 says Circle Craft Co-op President Corin Flood, a Nanaimo-based woodturner whose rich bowls and spice mills will be on exhibit at this year鈥檚 Market. 鈥淭he market attracts the best vendors from across Canada and serves a faithful clientele, many of whom have been coming for 30-plus years as part of the Christmas season. For many of the artisans, these holiday markets are a third to a half of their sales for the whole year.鈥

2024 Vendors

Produced since 2021 by , the 50th Circle Craft anniversary is a true celebration of sustainability, inclusivity, heritage and originality in craft. Arts range from ceramics, glass, metals and wood to jewellery, textiles and paper. DIY cocktail kits, packaged gourmet foods and eco-friendly bath and body products are also in the mix. But like all great craft markets, the real treasures are the stories behind each handcrafted item, including:

  • Watercolour greeting cards painted by an experienced palliative care physician.
  • Modern stained glass from a Russian finance professor who, unable to continue actively opposing her government, found refuge in Canada 鈥 and in art.
  • Handbags sewn with the remnants of a Depression-era drapery shop, passed down from a Saskatchewan grandfather to his granddaughter.
  • 鈥淐remation artwork鈥 that transforms stones collected from meaningful locations into custom art pieces, soothing grief with cherished memories.
  • And nearly 300 more!

Featuring Indigenous artisans, first-time vendors and market veterans alike, the Circle Craft Holiday Market heads into its 50th season with a commitment to championing small business, creative exploration and one-of-a-kind handmade quality that lasts a lifetime.
