Your smile brings more joy to the people around you. But if your teeth cause you pain or make you feel insecure, it鈥檚 hard to smile with confidence. How does Invisalign treatment work?
Your journey to a new smile begins with a free consultation with Dr. Basij, former UBC Instructor. She鈥檒l conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and decide if you鈥檙e a good candidate for Invisalign treatment.
The Invisalign algorithm helps calculate the just the right amount of force for every tooth movement in order to provide comfortable, effective results. It ensures every tooth moves in the right order and at the right time. Once you approve your plan, Allard Dental Centre will create custom, unique aligners, just for your smile.
You鈥檒l wear your first batch of aligners 20-22 hours a day for seven to ten days, then return to Allard Dental Centre for a check-up. Dr. Basij will examine your progress, and you鈥檒l have the opportunity to ask questions. You鈥檒l leave the Centre with a new set of aligners, and pick up new aligners every few weeks.
鈥淲hen the treatment is finished, you鈥檒l need to wear a custom retainer to maintain your smile,鈥 says Dr. Basij.
How long does Invisalign take?
You鈥檒l start seeing results from your first set of aligners in just a few weeks! For less complex issues, the entire treatment can be completed in as little as six months, but for most people the treatment lasts 12 to 18 months.
Is Invisalign painful?
Each set of Invisalign aligners will gently shift your teeth into a new position, so you may feel some slight discomfort. However, in general, the soft plastic of Invisalign is more comfortable than metal braces 鈥 you won鈥檛 feel any pricks or prods from metal wires. Talk to Dr. Basij if you have concerns.
Is Invisalign more expensive than metal braces?
The cost of metal braces and the cost of Invisalign are fairly similar. The final cost of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your case, and Dr. Basij can provide a detailed estimate before you begin treatment. Allard Dental Centre can help you find out whether some or all of your Invisalign will be covered by your dental insurance.
