Whether you鈥檙e a die-hard foodie or simply love discovering the delicious possibilities in your own backyard, Downtown 91原创鈥檚 Fork and Finger Festival is a must.
After all, 鈥渨ho doesn鈥檛 love food?鈥 asks Teri James, executive director of the .
Fork and Finger returns on Saturday, Aug. 26, serving up delicious tastes and treats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in and around Downtown 91原创.
鈥淭his event is the perfect opportunity for people to try a new restaurant they haven鈥檛 tried before,鈥 James says. 鈥淭his year we have 21 restaurants participating and each will offer $5 features or $10 features 鈥 or both!鈥
And while downtown 91原创 has some amazing restaurants, many of the community鈥檚 other food purveyors will also be on hand at the family-friendly, free-to-attend festival.
鈥淚n addition to delicious restaurants, you can try samples in the plaza from some of our local bakeries as well. It鈥檚 the perfect way to eat delicious food, listen to amazing music and all without breaking the bank!鈥 James says.
What鈥檚 James鈥 go-to advice for taking in the Fork and Finger?
- First things first. 鈥淲ith more restaurants participating than ever before, be sure to come hungry,鈥 she says.
- Pick up your coupons! The Downtown 91原创 team will hand out $5 coupons, while supplies last, that can be used for the $5 features, or half of the $10 features. They鈥檒l also be giving away $2,500 Downtown Dollars following the event鈥 a great way to visit some of your favourite restaurants after the festival.
- Don鈥檛 forget your passport. Pick up your free Fork & Finger Passport in McBurney Plaza, at the Downtown 91原创 Business Association information tent. Visit participating restaurants, collect three or more stamps and when you return your passport to the plaza, you鈥檒l be entered in the Downtown Dollar draws.
- Catch the chef in action. Returning favourite Chef Spencer Watts, seen on CTV鈥檚 and CTV鈥檚 , is not only a talented chef but highly entertaining as well, James notes. Watts will host an action station in McBurney Plaza from noon to 2 p.m., serving up delicious samples from his cookbook Fish For You. He鈥檒l also be available for book signings, photographs and to talk all things food!
- Bring the kids! 鈥淚n addition to the grown-up food, we have delicious sweet treats being served up by four of our amazing bakeries, and there鈥檚 ice cream flights and sundaes on the menu as well,鈥 James says.
