Thinking of taking a cruise this spring, but undecided about where to go, and what kind of cruise to take?

鈥淔or the last little while people were cruising closer to home, taking more Pacific coastal cruises like Alaska or Mexico,鈥� says Pety Carvalho of in 91原创. 鈥淏ut now we鈥檙e seeing people getting back to more exotic, bucket-list destinations like Australia, New Zealand or Europe.鈥�

Carvalho notes that although travellers are returning to more exotic trips, Mexico and Hawaii, or Caribbean destinations like Aruba, St. Kitts, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands and Bermuda, are always mainstay.

鈥淔or our clients, Mexico and the Caribbean have always been popular, because it鈥檚 easier to just go somewhere down south from here,鈥� Carvalho says.

鈥淐hoosing a cruise line is definitely about personal choice,鈥� Carvalho says. 鈥淓ach one is great in their own way, and because they鈥檙e all different, there鈥檚 something for everyone. For example, with river cruising, are Scandinavian Modern in design, while AmaWaterways, which is German, make you feel you鈥檙e dining right at home in a German-style house.鈥�

Which cruise type suits you?

Aside from deciding on a destination and cruise line for your vacation, you can also choose which cruise type 鈥� contemporary, premium or luxury 鈥� suits your needs or tastes.

鈥淎 contemporary cruise is usually more multi-generational, with a lot of fun stuff for the kids,鈥� Carvalho says. 鈥淭he premium cruises are more all-inclusive and intended mostly for younger adults. You鈥檒l still find a kids鈥� club but without the more 鈥榳ow-factor鈥� attractions like water slides.

鈥淟uxury cruises are more for adults and are usually longer, with deluxe, white-glove service like a glass of champagne every time you board the ship.鈥�

Ocean or river?

If you鈥檙e more interested in visiting more remote areas of the world, full of rich history, river cruises are a great alternative to contemporary ocean cruising.

鈥淥ur European river cruises are very popular,鈥� Carvalho says. 鈥淭he ships are smaller, and the atmosphere is more relaxed and elegant, with no hustle and bustle 鈥� you only unpack your bags once. It鈥檚 like being in a little boutique hotel that takes you right to the heart of a different city or country each day!鈥�
