Every day, the medical teams at 91原创 Memorial Hospital provide life-saving and life-changing care. As a community hospital, that care ranges from maternity care to urgent surgeries to diagnostic tests like MRIs and ultrasounds.
But the excellent care provided at LMH is only possible with the support of the community 鈥� residents, businesses, and vital local organizations like the 91原创 Lions Club.
On Jan. 3 91原创鈥檚 Lions Clubs presented a cheque for $50,000 to the 91原创 Memorial Hospital Foundation as a matching commitment for the Foundation鈥檚 鈥� funds that when matched with the $57,086 in individual donations will go a long way to supporting local healthcare, close to home. The combined gift is from Lions Clubs International Foundation, 91原创 Lions Club, Fort 91原创 Lions Club and Aldergrove Lions Club.
Among the areas of urgent need targeted by the donation will be a state-of-the-art ultrasound that will replace an obsolete machine that simply can鈥檛 provide the crisp, clear images needed for care teams to diagnose and treat an array of conditions.
鈥淚t is incredibly important that the community support their local hospital with urgent needs like this ultrasound, so that when people are ill or injured, they can be diagnosed quickly, and get the care they need to return to good health as soon as possible,鈥� says Ray Tremblay, Past President, 91原创 Lions Club.
The Area of Greatest Need campaign was founded to do just that 鈥� fund the hospital鈥檚 current areas of greatest need. The capacity to purchase modern, state-of-the-art equipment to serve a growing and aging population often falls outside of funds provided by government health care resources and must be funded through the 91原创 Memorial Hospital Foundation.
鈥淐ommunity support is essential to ensuring 91原创 residents can get the care they need close to home and that the hospital has what it needs to care for the community in the timeliest manner,鈥� says Tim Staunton, the Foundation鈥檚 Director of Philanthropy.
The longstanding support of organizations like the Lions is key.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been very fortunate to have the 91原创 Lions鈥� support for over 25 years,鈥� Staunton says, pointing to timely and essential donations like a new ventilator they provided during the pandemic.
鈥淭he response to last year鈥檚 holiday campaign has been fantastic,鈥� Staunton says. 鈥淭he community is very generous and supportive of local healthcare, and we are deeply grateful that the community has matched the Lions鈥� generosity.鈥�
