The classic car community is a tight-knit group. So too is the community of staff and customers at 91原创鈥檚 Brogan鈥檚 Diner & Deli.

When the two come together, great things can happen.

This Sunday, July 15, Brogan鈥檚 鈥 formerly Kalma Family Restaurant 鈥 will host a car show in honour of Godfrey Hamon, a local car enthusiast and long-time customer.

Hamon passed away after a short battle with cancer, and this weekend his friends, family and fellow car enthusiasts host a car show to raise money for others fighting the disease.

鈥淰ehicles are welcome to join the show first come, first served, and we have a feeling it鈥檚 going to be jammed,鈥 says Lori Johnson, who is organizing the event with dad and Brogan鈥檚 customer Ken Johnson and her longtime friend Krista Johnston.

On-site vehicle registration is just $15 for what organizers hope will become an annual event.

The popular , which will also open the doors on its newly renovated interior and new name, will also serve up some great deals for lunch 鈥 rolling back prices on the outdoor grill to offer a hamburger, fries and a pop for just $5. Direct donations will also be gratefully accepted and organizers are opening a charitable account at the nearby bank.

鈥淲e wouldn鈥檛 be able to do it without them 鈥 they鈥檝e been fantastic,鈥 Lori says.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and welcomes cars of all makes, models and vintages.

Direct support for 3 families in need

Proceeds from the car show will support three local individuals fighting the disease 鈥 helping with everything from rent to the cost of food, which can become a real challenge when people lose time at work while in treatment, Lori says.

Hamon鈥檚 family will be on hand for the event, selecting a recipient for a special award in his honour. His car 鈥 a 1964 Ranchero 鈥 will also be on exhibit.

鈥淐ancer touches everybody in some way,鈥 Lori says. 鈥淟et鈥檚 get together and remember those who have fallen to the disease and support those who are fighting.鈥
