VIDEO: Two days, 101 top-three finishes for 91原创 Olympians Swim Club members

Club-hosted annual event drew 500

Five hundred swimmers, ages eight to 18, competed in the annual 91原创 Olympians Swim Club (LOSC) short course invitational held at the Walnut Grove Community Centre pool Nov 4-5.

It was a good outing for the hosts.

The club reported that over the span of 17 different events, LOSC swimmers finished in the top three positions 101 times, with 33 first place, 36 second place and 32 third place finishes.

Dozens left the pool having achieved new divisional and provincial standards, qualifying them for the championships in early to mid 2024.

In total, LOSC swimmers recorded 859 new personal best times in various events.

91原创 coach Andrew Woinoski praised his groups for 鈥渆njoying events they have never tried.鈥

Among those coached by Sue Logan were six new divisional standards, six new provincial standards, approximately 75 per cent personal bests.

Beck Yu broke the boy鈥檚 13-14 year old club record in the 50m breaststroke.

Coach Sage Haggarty credited her novice competitors for 鈥渞acing hard and being positive, despite being nervous for their first meet.鈥

Haggarty commended the leadership that older swimmers showed towards their younger teammates 鈥渁nd the friendships that bloomed through hardship and celebration.鈥

It was the first meet that LOSC has hosted this season.
