Okanagan Sun hosted the 91Ô´´ Rams for their CJFL Regular Season home opener. Sun took the win at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna.

2024 marks the 75th year for the 91Ô´´ Rams, who started the new season with a long-delayed matchup in July.

Last year, the 91Ô´´ Rams and rival Okanagan Sun never got to play each other, thanks to wildfires that ruined air quality in Kelowna and forced a cancellation.

This year, the Rams and Sun began the new season with a meeting at the Apple Bowl in 40-degree heat, on Saturday, July 20.

Rams defence held the Sun at bay for most of the game, building a 13-0 lead by the third quarter.

Isaiah Cooper made seven solo tackles for 91Ô´´, blocked a kick, and recovered a fumble.

But the Sun came back, scoring 22 points to beat 91Ô´´ 22-15.

Ram quarterback Jovyn Sangha completed 12 passes, two of them for touchdowns.

His favourite target was Terrel Jones making four receptions for 121 yards and a 70-yard touchdown catch and run.  Isaiah Edwards also hauled in a major.

A BCFC profile described Edwards as one to watch this season, saying "he will need to be a focal point of the Rams offence this coming season and is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands."

Last season Edwards caught 36 passes for 550 yards, had a 15.3 yards per catch average and hauled in six touchdowns.

Next, Rams were set to host Prince George Kodiaks Saturday, Aug. 3 at 4 p.m. in their first homefield game at McLeod, when the team will celebrate its 75th season and all alumni will receive free admission.

The 2024 schedule will see each of the seven member BCFC teams play a 10-game schedule over 12 weeks, wrapping up  Oct. 5.

Last year, the Rams season ended when they fell to the top ranked team in the country, the Westshore Rebels, at Starlight Stadium in Langford, a 40-14 defeat in the CJFL Canadian Bowl Playoffs.
