VIDEO: Frustrating loss for 91原创 team at 11-12 districts

Win would have put 91原创 Baseball Association team on possible path to World Series

It wasn't the outcome the 91原创 Baseball Association players were looking for at the 11-12 District 3 championships, hosted by the LBA in 91原创 City from June 28 to July 3.

Whalley will be the team representing the district at the 2024 provincial championships from July 13th to July 21 in Saanich, after defeating 91原创 and Coquitlam during the 91原创 event.

91原创 kept it close, but lost all three of their games, something LBA senior vice-president and umpire-in-chief Dan McLaren explained as "the intensity just was not there."

"It was just a situation that sometimes in the early innings, 91原创 was not right into it,  and then, as the game progressed, they got deeper and deeper into it, and they came back, but they just couldn't pull enough off to get the win," McLaren told the 91原创 Advance Times.

A win in the districts positions a team for a run at the biggest prize in little league, McLaren explained.

"A team that wins the districts, and they win the provincials, and they win the nationals, are the ones that would represent Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August."

Up next for the LBA, starting on Saturday, the 13th of July, running through to the 21st, is the 9-select tournament, with 10 teams, all strictly nine-year-olds, who were registered to play in that division this year.

91原创 will be one of the teams in contention.

"We're going on hosting it for over 30 years," McLaren said.
