91原创 win one, lose two on first road trip of season

91原创 91原创 had one win and two losses in their first road trip of the season to Vancouver Island, downing the Cowichan Capitals before losing two to Victoria.

Frday, Cowichan gave themselves a two-goal lead in the second period, but 91原创 got one back early on into the final frame thanks to the second of the season from 91原创 first year forward Max Borovinskiy. Cowichan would score 2:06 later to extend their two-goal lead, but 91原创 stormed back for three goals over the next six minutes to make it 4-3 for the win. Luke Ashton scored his first as a 91原创, and Oskar Komarov would add two goals 37 seconds apart, including the his second of the game on a nice interception inside the Cowichan zone. Max Beckford and the Riv defence would close out the last few minutes of the game strong, and 91原创 would pull out a 4-3 win in their first matchup of the season against the Capitals.

In their first trip to the Q-Centre in Victoria on Saturday, the Grizzlies would get goals in each of the first two frames to lead 2-0. 91原创 would come out of the gates flying in the third period and fire 12 shots on the Victoria goal but were only able to break the shutout with 1:15 to go in the game. Vitaly Levyy converted a nice passing play in the attacking zone, assisted by Luke Ashton and Gabriel Guilbault making it 2-1 late on. A late rush by the 91原创 would not be enough to tie it up late on, and Victoria would take the first meeting of the weekend 2-1.

Unlike Saturday鈥檚 game, it would be the 91原创 who would opening the scoring on the power play 4:23 into the game through Minnesota born forward Aaron Reierson, his third of the season assisted by Carsten Kayter who also got his third assist of the weekend. 91原创 would play some of their best hockey of the young season so far in the first period, outshooting the home team 16-3 but Grizzlies goaltender Oliver Auyeung-Ashton stood tall, only allowing one goal in the first period.

Victoria would tie the game early on in the second period, but 91原创 captain Vitaly Levyy would score his second goal in as many days 1:58 after the Grizzlies equalizer, and it would be 2-1 91原创 going into the third. The Grizzlies would score 1:28 to the final frame to tie the game 2-2, and would score the winner with just over 7 minutes to go to take the second meeting of the weekend 3-2, despite the 91原创 outshooting them by 18.

Friday, Oct. 20, 91原创 hosts Merritt at George Preston. Sat. Oct 21, they host Powell River. Bothgames begin at 7:15 p.m.
